Marshals Release antwan SMith

The Marshals have released WR/DB Antwan Smith per Smith's request, citing personal reasons. This is the first release of the 2024 season. Smith played for the Marshals during their inaugural 2022 season in Champions Indoor Football. He returned for the 2023 season as the team's General Manager and Defensive Coordinator, working under then Head Coach, Dante Dudley.

Marshals Co-owner, Wes Johnson said Smith requested the release from Head Coach, Shon King after arriving for Marshals Training Camp. "Antwan requested his release from the team saying he had some work related obligations  that he needed to return home for," Johnson said.

A new era of arena football in the black hills

The Marshals have completed four days of Training Camp. The team announced an open-to-the-public practice and scrimmage set for Saturday, April 6th. On the team's social media Johnson invited the community to come to the team's practice and see the changes the team has made this year under new Head Coach, Shon King. The team will practice and have a scrimmage from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at Rushmore Hockey Association's Thunder Dome at 5611 Old Folsom Road. Then, after practice the public will be welcome on the field to visit with the team, coaching staff and ownership. [See the video posted below]

"I really want this new era of the Marshals to be positively received in the community," Co-Owner Wes Johnson said, adding "[Co-Owner] Rebecca and I have worked hard with Coach King and we have a collective vision for how this organization should be run. The Marshals are going to surprise everyone this year with the product we're putting on the field. This isn't the same organization of the previous two years. This is really what Rebecca and I had envisioned, but we had a lot of obstacles to overcome from that first half-year ownership group. It's taken a season and a half to get past all of that, and we're finally moving in the direction we want this team to be."
